A quiet afternoon in Barcelona turned into a sudden citizens’ intervention. Two teens were aware of the robberies around the area, identified a suspect and decided to follow him around. Patiently they waited until the man stole a phone and they started recording evidence of his crime.
After the theft, witnesses reacted immediately and alerted the victim with their screams. At first the woman didn’t understand what was happening, but when she realized her phone was gone, she started running after the suspect. The criminal, convinced he had pulled “the perfect heist”, didn’t imagine he had been found out and that the situation was about to give an unexpected turn.
The teens recording themselves decided to intervene. They raised their voices, pointing out the culprit and would not desist until the victim heard them. The thief tried to intimidate them to they would stop, but it didn’t work. The pressure rose and the situation became unsustainable for him in front of so many people.
Finally, cornered and unable to escape, the man gave back the stolen phone. The witnesses’ quick actions stopped the crime from happening and allowed the victim to get back her belongings. What seemed like just another robbery at the park ended up frustrated thanks to these men who decided to act.
