A tragic incident has shocked the province of Yala in southern Thailand, where 63-year-old Chaiphum Sae-eung died after being attacked by a primate.

The incident occurred when the animal entered the retiree’s property, and he tried unsuccessfully to defend himself using a metal bar, according to reports from the local police. The male macaque, which had already attacked other families in the area, inflicted deep wounds to his leg and shoulder, leading to a fatal outcome.

The body was found by his nephew, Pipat Sae-eung, days after the confrontation. Authorities at Betong Hospital are carrying out the corresponding investigations while a maximum security alert remains in place.
