A young woman just 20 years old arrived at a hospital in Taiwan after developing a fever, but doctors found something far more surprising during the examinations: she had more than 300 stones inside one of her kidneys.

The woman, a resident of Tainan, had a habit of consuming tea drinks and other prepared beverages practically as if they were water. According to the medical report, she did not drink enough water, something that can promote the formation of crystals and stones in the urinary tract.

Doctors discovered that her kidney was full of stones of different sizes. Some were small, while others reached dimensions comparable to those of small buns.

The young woman underwent a procedure to remove the stones and was later able to leave the hospital.

The case was especially surprising because of the number of stones found and the patient’s age. Specialists explained that insufficient hydration can increase the concentration of substances in the urine and promote stone formation.

Although tea drinks can provide fluids, they should not completely replace water consumption, especially when they contain large amounts of sugar.

A fever ended up taking this young woman to the hospital and revealed something she probably never imagined:

more than 300 stones had accumulated inside one of her kidneys.
