In 1991, the life of Isaac Wright Jr. came to a sudden halt. He was arrested and accused of being the leader of a drug trafficking network in New Jersey. Even though there was no real evidence, prosecutor Nicholas Bissell used false testimony and coercion to secure a devastating conviction: life imprisonment plus 70 years in prison.

While behind bars, many would have given up, but Isaac began a silent battle. Without ever having set foot in a law school, he started studying law books in the prison library. He became a “jailhouse lawyer”, helping other inmates reduce their sentences while preparing the final blow for his own case.

After 7 years of tireless struggle, Isaac managed to bring his case back to court. There, in an epic cross-examination, he got a detective to confess that the prosecutor had falsified evidence and forced witnesses to lie. Isaac’s conviction was immediately overturned.

Isaac not only regained his freedom, he saw the system that betrayed him crumble. Prosecutor Bissell, once exposed, became a fugitive and ended up taking his own life before being captured. For his part, Isaac did not stop there: he formally studied law, passed the bar exam in 2017, and today he is a renowned lawyer who fights for those who, like him, are victims of a corrupt system.

His life is so incredible that it inspired the hit television series “For Life”, reminding us that, even if justice is delayed, when a person decides not to give up, the whole world has to listen.
