Manuel Orellana, known as Chino, was found alive after spending nearly 6 days out of contact in Cajón del Maipo with Martina Núñez, 21, and Magdalena Retamal, 31. The case had been reported as a presumed misfortune due to the catastrophic bad-weather front affecting much of Chile, which caused enormous concern among family members.

The 3 were located at an emergency shelter in the Andes Mountains and transported by helicopter to a safe place. The situation went viral because the women accompanying him were preschool teachers at his children’s kindergarten, and his partner, Génesis, said they already knew Manuel before the trip.

The story had all the ingredients to go viral: snow, family anguish, rumors of infidelity, and a rescue that fortunately ended with everyone alive. What began as a worrying disappearance ended up becoming one of the most talked-about stories on social media 😮
