Chen Ziyi was just 24 years old and had more than 1.2 million followers. Known in China as Ganfan Yingying, she had built much of her popularity by creating mukbang content, but over time she began speaking publicly about the health problems she was facing.
On August 14, 2026, she posted from the hospital that her potassium levels had fallen to 2.3 mmol/L, a dangerously low figure. “Making money is important, but health should always come first”, she warned her followers.
Three days later, Chen died. Her parents subsequently confirmed her death, although they did not disclose an official cause. Chinese media have linked her death to the severe potassium imbalances she was suffering from, but that version has not been confirmed by her family or the hospital.
