Some gestures need no explanation.
An older man built a ramp so his dog, who is also now a senior, could get into the car without having to jump. Instead of carrying him or leaving him at home, he simply adapted the way in to suit his companion’s slow steps. In the footage, the animal can be seen calmly making his way up the ramp while the man waits beside him.
They both grew old. He has to move more slowly; his dog, much more so. But their routine of going out together is still intact, because what changed wasn’t their love but the way of sustaining it.
The images, posted on Reddit by the user @turbulent_Elk_2141, touched everyone who saw them for one simple reason: they show a love that no longer depends on the energy of youth. When you grow old alongside the one you love most, perhaps all that matters is that no one gets left behind.
