At an adoption event in 2014, Cynthia Bennett met Henry: a puppy just 14 weeks old who was already five times larger than the rest of the litter. As soon as she entered his pen, the puppy curled up in her lap, rolled onto his back, and rested his head on her arm. That’s when she knew he was the one.
Three days later, they were already taking him hiking. “He found the highest and steepest rock in the area and ran to the top to peer over the edge”, Bennett recounted. That’s why they started calling him their little mountain goat.
Over time, Baloo arrived, a rescued Siamese kitten who fell in love with Henry from the very first encounter and only wanted to play and cuddle with him. The two became inseparable, adventure companions for years. Sadly, Henry’s time in this world came to an end, and Baloo was left to go on adventures alone. That’s when Pancake arrived, not to replace Henry, but to give another dog the chance to experience the love everyone deserves.
Today, Baloo and Pancake are inseparable, but every time Baloo hears Henry’s name, he searches the horizon as if saying: “I still think of you”.
