Clark Denicola is 4 years old and had a request that seemed impossible to fulfill: he wanted to be a refrigerator for Halloween.

His mom, Christine, 39, a New Jersey resident, didn’t hesitate. She shut herself away in her basement studio and, over about three weeks, put in nearly 80 hours of work. She used recycled cardboard and materials she already had at home, spending about 40 dollars.

The result isn’t just a painted box. Inside are shelves stocked with handmade food, also made of cardboard, working lights, and a screen inspired by smart refrigerators. She designed it with wheels and a hidden door so Clark could move around comfortably. It also had a surprise feature: according to Christine, the fridge can dispense water and ice.

This isn’t new for her: for eight years, she has been making increasingly elaborate Halloween costumes for her two children.
