Thaynara Marcondes, a Brazilian education student, weighed 60 kg, 12 of which came solely from her breasts.

The young woman, who was 22 years old at the time, wore size M tops when her breasts suddenly began to increase in size. At first, some men considered her sexy, but the growth did not stop and things quickly got out of control.
Her breasts began to grow by approximately 750 grams per month. Her family was the first to notice the change, and then came the stares and comments from strangers on the street.
“People pointed at me. One time I went to the market and people even thought I was stealing products and hiding them in my breasts. That’s when I became worried”, the young woman recounted.
Doctors initially feared that it might be cancer, but tests revealed something different and much rarer: gigantomastia, an uncommon condition that causes excessive and disproportionate growth of breast tissue. The weight can become so extreme that it causes back, neck, and shoulder pain, posture problems, skin injuries, and difficulties carrying out routine activities.
Finally, on October 25, 2024, Thaynara went into surgery. The surgery lasted more than 10 hours, and doctors removed nearly 10 kilos of breast tissue. She was discharged the next day and began a new chapter after months of living with the consequences of the disease.
After recovering, she was able to resume everyday activities that the weight of her breasts had made difficult, and she planned to return to the gym, run, go to the beach, and wear a bikini again.
“I look in the mirror and think: Wow, how beautiful I look!”, Thaynara said after the operation.
