Moffy has one eye that looks the other way.

For many, that would be reason enough never to set foot in a modeling agency. For her, it was exactly the opposite. This young Brit, known as Moffy Gathorne-Hardy, broke the mold of traditional beauty by showing off her strabismus without trying to hide it, and the fashion world couldn’t look away.

Strom, the agency that discovered Kate Moss, signed her and was preparing her to make the leap onto the international scene. The magazine The Pop introduced her with a phrase that sums it all up: “She may be cross-eyed, but the word star is written all over her”.

Photographer Tyrone Leblon, one of the champions of unconventional beauty, said that Moffy had never been photographed for a magazine and that it was exciting to work with someone who was an unknown quantity. The model kept earning rave reviews for her ability to overcome stereotypes.
This story was published in 2013, but the question remains: who decides what is beautiful?
