Her name is Sola. And that name, which someone chose perhaps without thinking it through, ended up describing exactly what she had to endure from day one.
Her own mother accidentally crushed her at birth. The impact left her with a skull fracture and another fracture in her jaw. For a moment, the medical team thought they had lost her: her blood pressure dropped, and her heart stopped. They resuscitated her. She is now stable, under specialized observation, awaiting an MRI that will determine whether the fractured bone is pressing on her brain. If so, they will have to operate on her.
“Sola continues to fight”, said activist Jesús Elías Ibarra Rodríguez on social media. “Keep praying for her and sending us your best vibes”. Every day she continues to breathe is, for those caring for her, a small victory.
