They told her hair grows… but it doesn’t.
Holly was only 6 years old when she began losing it to alopecia. Her mom, trying to help her, decided to shave her head because she believed it would grow back faster and stronger that way, but her hair never returned as they expected.

From then on, Holly spent decades wearing a wig and waiting for the day she could stop doing so. That wait ended up influencing the way she saw herself and many of her life decisions, because she felt there were things she had to put off until “she could look normal” again.
Over time, she understood that she had spent too many years hiding because of something she couldn’t control. More than 30 years after that first shave, she decided to stop hiding her alopecia and start showing herself just as she is.
After spending much of her life waiting for her hair to return, Holly eventually understood that she didn’t need to keep waiting to start living the way she wanted.
