Her parents paid for her studies by working in a butcher shop, and she returned with her engineering degree to where it all began to thank them

That degree didn’t come on its own: behind it were years of work, early mornings, and many hours serving customers among meat and vegetables. ❤️

María José Corpus wanted her graduation photos to also tell the story of those who made it possible for her to finish her studies. So, instead of choosing only an elegant setting, she returned to the market where her parents worked and posed with her cap and gown beside them.

The young woman had just graduated as an engineer and knew that much of that achievement had been possible thanks to her family’s efforts. Her parents worked for years in a butcher shop to support the household and pay for her studies, while she too knew the reality of the family business up close.

The photographs ended up becoming a way to thank them: María José appears proudly with her degree precisely where her parents worked so that one day she could earn it.

Because although her name is the one that appears on the diploma, she was very clear that that achievement also bore a little of her parents’ names.
