“He’s a mama’s boy”: She divorced her 40-year-old husband because her mother-in-law decided what he ate, controlled his money, and even put GPS on him to track him

A woman said she ended up filing for divorce after growing tired of her husband’s mother being present in practically every decision in their marriage. According to her account, she came to feel “more like a mistress than a wife”.

Her mother-in-law would call to find out what they were having for dinner, send the grocery list, and control the menu because of her son’s gastritis. Her influence also extended to money: on one occasion, the man transferred the savings intended for a family vacation to his mother without even consulting his wife.

But perhaps the most extreme thing happened when he installed an app so his mother could track his location. That way, she could question him for being at the cinema when he was supposed to be swimming or even call him shortly after he entered a restaurant to find out what he was eating.

When the wife finally confronted her mother-in-law about the lack of privacy, she received a fairly clear response: “To me, he will always be a child”. Her husband, far from setting boundaries, ended up berating her for having spoken to his mother.

That was when she decided to pack her bags and file for divorce. After all, she felt that in that marriage, they had never been only two.
