Archie spent years locked in a dark room. Not because he was sick, but because someone was ashamed of people seeing him that way: with a tumor on his head that kept growing until it disfigured his entire face.
When the lump became too large to keep hiding, his owner made the cruelest decision of all: he took him out into the street and left him there, alone, to fend for himself with that weight that barely allowed him to walk. No one stopped to help him until a woman found him and could not simply walk past.

That woman joined forces with Arturo Islas Allende, a Mexican activist known for rescuing animals in extreme situations, to try to save him. Archie is now undergoing medical evaluation: he is having all the necessary tests to determine whether the tumor can be operated on. After so much confinement and abandonment, at last someone is looking him in the eye. What kind of person hides a sick animal instead of seeking help for it?
