Hilary Duff was criticized for her body since childhood… and today she proudly poses in Sports Illustrated. She finally accepted her body

Hilary Duff grew up in front of the cameras, but also in front of some really cruel comments about her body. When she was doing Lizzie McGuire, many people called her “fat”, talked about her arms, and she ended up believing part of that, even though in reality she was a girl with a completely normal body.

That’s why seeing her now on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit feels special. Not just because she’s appearing again in such a huge space, but because she’s doing it from a different place, much more at peace with herself and with everything her body has lived through.

Hilary said that at first she thought she had to get in “brutal” shape to do the photos. She felt that pressure because she’s not a model, she is 1.57, and she has had four children. In other words, she started from that deeply ingrained idea that to pose in a swimsuit you had to show up “perfect”.

But then she said something much more powerful: that her body “worked very hard” to bring her family into the world. And that changes everything, because she’s no longer talking about looking a certain way, but about recognizing everything that body held up, carried, and survived.

And honestly, it shows. Hilary doesn’t just look gorgeous: she looks comfortable, calm, and like someone who finally stopped seeing herself through other people’s eyes. She finally accepted her body, and that makes the cover hit much more beautifully.
