“Hiring a chef to save money is advice that only works if you already have plenty to spare”: the debate over the Chilean influencer who spends a million at the supermarket

Dianella Coppo, a Chilean influencer, hired a private chef with an argument that set social media ablaze: it was cheaper than the supermarket. According to her, in May she spent almost a million pesos (about 1,050 dollars) on groceries that ended up going to waste, and she estimated that with the chef she would save 30% per month.

For many, the logic makes sense: if you organize your meals better and reduce waste, the cost can go down. “If you’re spending a lot at supermarkets, maybe it’s more worth it for you”, she said. But for others, the advice comes from a reality most people do not have: “Having a private chef is a luxury, not everyone can afford it”, several users replied. Saving money or simply spending differently?

Is she right in her calculations, or is the problem that she gives advice from a financial position few people have? 💬

👌🏻 #chile #mealpreps #ahorro #experiencia #chef
