Whenever someone tried to approach to help him, Moreno stepped in front of them, barked, and bared his teeth because he interpreted the situation as a threat.
The scene complicated the work of those who were trying to help at times, but it also showed just how far his protective instinct went. For him, there were no police officers, doctors, or strangers: he only saw his vulnerable companion and felt that he had to defend him.
