Charlotte was just 4 years old when she received her first cochlear implant. Her father, Alistair Campbell, noticed something that broke his heart: the girl did not want the device above her left ear to be seen.
So he did something no one expected; he shaved his head completely and tattooed an identical implant in the exact same place where she wears hers.
When Charlotte saw it for the first time, she said nothing. She just touched it and laughed.
Deafness runs in her family, so Campbell knew this would not be the last implant he would see growing up under his roof.
That is why he promised something more: whenever his daughter needs it, he will shave his head again and get tattooed again, without thinking twice.
