Alberto had just lost his wife, and his grandson only wanted to see him smile again. So he kept a surprise under wraps for three years, knowing it could lift his spirits 🥹
Alberto López, from General Pico, Argentina, had worked for decades as a waiter and also catered events on weekends. He had always dreamed of owning a Renault 12, but with life’s expenses, he never managed to save enough money to buy one.
His grandson, Gonzalo Gorosito, didn’t forget that wish. He worked as an administrative employee and a DJ on weekends, saving money for years, and when the opportunity came up to buy a 1993 Renault 12, he even sold his own motorcycle to come up with the rest of the money.
He planned the surprise for New Year’s, just two months after Alberto was widowed. In front of the whole family, he turned on the car’s lights and handed him the keys. ““Is this really for me?”” his grandfather managed to ask, completely overcome with emotion.
The story became so well-known that it reached Renault Argentina, which decided to restore the vehicle and give him lifetime maintenance. Gonzalo had wanted to give back a little of everything his grandfather had done for the family, and ended up making a lifelong dream come true for him at age 76 ❤️
