“Who will remember us when we’re gone?”. That question from his wife became the promise Faizul Hasan Qadri would spend years fulfilling.
The Indian retiree and Tajamulli Begum had married when they were very young and shared almost six decades together. They never had children, and before she died of cancer in 2011, she expressed her fear that someday no one would remember the life they had built.
After losing her, Faizul used his savings, sold some of his land and a few pieces of jewelry to build a cement mausoleum inspired by the Taj Mahal in the courtyard of his home in India. He buried Tajamulli there and continued working on the construction for years.

He even turned down financial help to finish it, because he felt that the tribute had to be built with his own resources and his own hands.
Faizul died in 2018 and, as he had wished, was buried inside that small Taj Mahal beside his wife. In the end, Tajamulli’s question was answered: decades later, their love story is still remembered ❤️
