According to reports circulating on social media, the man had entered the space beneath an articulated MIO bus while it was stopped on 3 Norte Avenue, near the Monument to Solidarity, in Cali. There, next to the engine area, he fell asleep. The driver, unaware that someone was traveling underneath, set off.
The bus traveled for several kilometers. It was other citizens who, while looking underneath during the journey, spotted the person beneath the structure and signaled the driver to stop.
When the articulated bus finally stopped, the man emerged from one side, slowly and showing little concern. The images show him shirtless, speaking with an officer from the Cali Metropolitan Police, who warned him of the danger. No further official details are known about his identity or what happened to him afterward.
The underside of an articulated bus conceals mechanical parts, hot surfaces, wiring, and moving components. A sudden stop or turn could have been enough to change the outcome.
