A devastating fire in the kitchen of an animal protection organization prompted a 53-year-old homeless man in Atlanta to act.

The man, identified as Keith Walker, saw the flames spreading on the night of December 18, 2020, at the facilities of the charity W-Underdogs. Without thinking twice, the local resident entered the smoke-filled building and successfully evacuated the six dogs and ten cats that remained trapped in the rooms.

Local firefighters confirmed that the rescuer’s timely actions prevented a massive tragedy before the arrival of the emergency vehicles, resulting in a positive outcome of 16 dogs and cats rescued.
