Lieng Le, owner of Café Bích Nga in Florida, had gone years without stable housing and slept in a folding chair inside the restaurant where she worked long hours. Even so, one day she offered a free meal to a content creator who had come to her establishment.
The gesture was shared on social media and, shortly afterward, it became known that she was going through serious financial difficulties. A fundraiser then began, raising nearly $127,000 in 24 hours and surpassing $200,000 weeks later, with support from people who did not want to leave her alone.
On June 1, she received a check and a fully furnished house just minutes from her restaurant. Lieng had given away a meal expecting nothing in return. The response came in the form of keys.
