But when the final stretch of the Diomed Stakes arrived, the 8-year-old horse did something no racing manual accounts for: he stuck out his tongue right as he crossed the finish line. 👅🏁
The final finish photo says it all. The difference against the horse ‘Century Dream’ was so tiny that the officials had to measure the position of the nose, and the extended tongue was what gave that extra fraction.
It was his first victory in a Group race. Jockey Tom Marquand and trainer Richard Hannon couldn’t believe it.
