How Lindsay Clancy and Dimone Fleming killed their children after suffering from postpartum psychosis and were acquitted by the courts

Dimone Fleming was 22 years old when, in 2022, she took the lives of her two children, aged 3 years and 11 months, in New York. During the proceedings, psychiatric evaluations concluded that she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis.

In August 2026, a judge determined that she was not criminally responsible due to a mental illness, although Fleming was not released and will remain under evaluation.

The ruling coincided with the case of Lindsay Clancy, who was accused of killing her three children in 2023, and whose defense also maintains that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis. Both cases have reopened the debate over this serious condition and its impact on criminal responsibility.
