Jill Price forgets nothing. 🧠
Give her any date from any year of her life, and she will tell you what day of the week it was, what she did, what she ate, and even what news was on television that night. She was born in 1965 in Southern California, and from childhood her brain began archiving every moment as if it were yesterday.
In 2000, she sought help from neurologist James McGaugh, obsessed with her own diary and sunk in a depression no one understood. Her case was eventually published in the scientific journal Neurocase, initially under the initials “AJ” to protect her identity. Doctors diagnosed her with hyperthymesia, a disorder so rare that only a handful of cases are known worldwide today.

Because remembering everything is not a superpower: it means reliving every loss, every embarrassment, and every pain with the same intensity as on the first day. Jill wrote a book in 2008 to tell her story. Her story went viral again this year, and it still leaves one question hanging in the air: would you really want to remember everything? 🤯
