45 years old. That is the number Natalie Portman repeats as if she still cannot quite believe it. The actress, daughter of a fertility specialist, knows better than anyone what it means to carry a pregnancy at this age: she has seen firsthand the complications other women around her face when trying to conceive.
That is why her words sound different. “I know how fortunate I am. I’m very grateful”, she said, describing this third pregnancy almost as a biological miracle.
It is her first child with her partner, French producer Tanguy Destable, known as Tepr, with whom she has maintained such a private relationship that hardly anything has become public.
As she balances her life in Paris between the film set and counting down the days until the birth, Portman says she feels better than expected: she keeps up an exercise routine with Gyrotonic and a diet full of fresh fruit, with no cravings or scares.
