“I can beat anyone in an arm-wrestling challenge”, said 24-year-old Daisy Johnson at a London pub on Easter Sunday. No one quite believed her, but the couple of drinks had already taken effect and, after insisting, she challenged the stranger at the next table. 🤦♀️
Daisy was a strong, toned woman who exercised regularly, but the amount of force applied incorrectly did its damage, and what followed was a dry crack that everyone heard before understanding it. Daisy said: “At that moment, I thought I had only dislocated my elbow and was convinced that, once someone put it back in place, I could go back to the pub!”.
But she was wrong. Her humerus spiraled into a fracture in the middle of the struggle, and her arm was left dangling, literally, without control. She spent four days in the hospital on morphine while doctors manually reset the bone.

Daisy continued exercising while she recovered. She focused on other areas of her body while she had her arm in a sling, and once she was ready, she began trying to get her arm back in shape.
But even a year later, Daisy continued to experience discomfort. Her arm was slightly deformed and shorter than the other. She says she does not know whether she will ever regain full mobility —although, laughing, she admits that she will think twice before accepting another challenge. 💪
