From the first round, an uppercut from Justin Gaethje opened a brutal cut over Topuria’s right eye. The situation kept getting worse round after round until, before the fifth round, Ilia told his corner something that chilled the atmosphere: “I can barely see anything.” Those words were enough. His brother Aleksandre made the hardest decision and stopped the fight. Gaethje was crowned the new champion. Topuria left the octagon in an ambulance headed to a hospital in Washington D.C. 😔
