Frith Hart expected the usual mess when her little daughter came over with a freshly decorated doll.
The mother, from the UK, braced herself for the typical marker scribbles. But the little girl hadn’t scribbled randomly. With unusual care for someone so young, she had colored a purple patch on the doll’s cheek.
When Frith came closer to take a look, she understood: it was exactly where her birthmark is.
For years, Frith had wished that mark would disappear. No one had asked the little girl to draw it or explained what that spot meant to her mother. She simply saw it, loved it, and put it on her favorite toy, the way you put something that you consider part of someone you love.
Frith recorded the moment, and the reel went viral. “I can’t explain how healing this was after so many years of wishing my birthmark would disappear”, she wrote. She added that it was the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for her.
