Corie Walsh, 38, lived in Frankfort, Illinois, with her husband and their four children. That week, she couldn’t put down her phone: she followed every detail of the trial of Lindsay Clancy, the woman accused of killing her three children in Massachusetts, and discussed it with her friends by text message.
On Tuesday, September 1, she kept texting until after noon. Three and a half hours later, a neighbor found Barrett, her barely 2-year-old son, lifeless in the basement of the house. The neighbor tried to revive him until paramedics arrived, but the boy did not survive.
According to prosecutors, Walsh told investigators that she had killed her son because she believed he was the “Antichrist”. She also had injuries that she had inflicted on herself. Her attorney, Andrea Lyon, says that she was experiencing a psychotic episode. The family’s other three children did not suffer physical harm.
