Marlon Wayans is 54 years old and has never been married.

In an interview with The New York Times, the Scary Movie and White Chicks actor explained why: he didn’t want his mother, Elvira Altheia, to feel jealous of another woman. “I never wanted my mother to feel second to any woman”, he said.

He described her as someone who was “very demanding” and clarified that it was just one of five reasons, though he joked that she would be number two.

Elvira died in 2020, at 81, and Marlon says the loss devastated him. On her deathbed, he confessed to her that he never got married because he always wanted her to be his number one girl, and asked her to take those words with her to heaven. According to him, those were the last words he said to her.
