Ana María Saavedra was 23 years old when the ground shook with a magnitude of 7.4 and took away everything she knew as home.
She was one of three. Her triplet sisters and her parents were trapped under the rubble of the house where they grew up together, and they were unable to get out alive.
Ana María did. She was rescued minutes after the collapse, conscious despite the blow, and managed to communicate with her cousin Diana March while she was being taken to a medical center.
It was her cousin who recounted, on the program Recap Blu, what went through Ana María’s mind at that critical moment.
Before going into surgery, she asked the doctor to save her with a certainty that admitted no doubt: “God has me here for very great things”.
A phrase spoken at the worst moment of her life, with the house collapsed, her family lost, and her body still broken by the earthquake of August 10.
