“I don’t talk about who I sleep with or who I fall in love with; if anyone’s interested, they can go to hell”: Tim Curry silenced once and for all those who speculated about his sexuality

Tim Curry never denied it. Nor did he confirm it.

After playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), a role that dressed him in a corset, garters, and makeup, the press descended on his private life as though the character were a confession. Curry, 29 at the time, became a countercultural icon overnight, and with that came the uncomfortable questions about his sexuality that never stopped hounding him.

He nipped it in the bud. Neither yes nor no: complete silence. His silence did not extinguish public curiosity; it fed it for decades, until his recent death at the age of 80 once again put on the table the question he had always refused to answer.
