Marcela Alonso was 16 years old when she became pregnant. Instead of helping her, her family turned their backs on her. With the minimum wage at around 4,75 dollars an hour and no support from anyone, she started working as a stripper in Tampa and Las Vegas to provide for her daughter.
Years later, at 41, the pandemic changed everything. She joined OnlyFans in 2017, but her account took off in 2020. She began receiving requests for video calls costing 300 dollars as soon as she woke up. Today, she earns more than 20.000 dollars a month from subscriptions, video calls, and VIP content.
She says it was harder for her than for others because she is Hispanic in an industry that, according to her, favors white women. But the stigma doesn’t bother her. Her daughter is studying for the LSAT and dreams of attending law school. “I don’t want her to graduate with debt. It’s what my father would have wanted”, Marcela said, having lost her father two years ago and now working to fulfill that silent promise.
