María Aguilar Halak, a 35-year-old Argentine dancer, asked for help returning from Morocco after enduring a series of situations that left her without work, injured, and far from her family. Her strongest statement was “I don’t want to be one less”.

The artist had arrived in the African country for a job offer. During a performance, she stepped on a burning coal, fell to the ground, and suffered an injury to her lower back that prevented her from continuing to dance. She later moved to Marrakech, where she met a man who, according to her account, deceived her, scammed her, and subjected her to violence.

María started a fundraiser to be able to buy her flight back to Argentina. Her request is not for a tour or a new artistic opportunity. She wants to return safe, supported, and far from a situation that left her trapped in another country.
