Messi provided another assist, after a Mac Allister shot had hit the post, and then Lautaro appeared to bury the header that sent Argentina to the World Cup final in Atlanta.
What came next was what no one expected: the forward broke down in tears in front of TyC Sports and said he had dreamed of that goal, and that he had told Mac Allister and Facundo Medina about it before stepping onto the field. “We’re back in a final after three and a half years”, he said, with his family crying in the stands.
