Jamie Lee Curtis was only 25 when a comment about her appearance led her to make a decision she would regret for decades.

During the filming of Perfect, released in 1985, a cinematographer commented that he didn’t want to film her because she had bags under her eyes. The actress acknowledged that those words made her feel so ashamed that, after the movie wrapped, she decided to have cosmetic surgery on her eyelids.

In an interview with 60 Minutes in May 2025, Curtis recalled the experience: “I ended up having plastic surgery… I regretted it immediately and, somehow, have continued regretting it ever since”.

Now 67, the Oscar winner has become a staunch advocate for natural aging and has publicly questioned the pressure in Hollywood to maintain a youthful appearance.
Her experience also led her to reflect on the importance of accepting yourself as you are. “You are beautiful and perfect just as you are”, is the message she now seeks to share with other women.
