Today we say goodbye to the legendary Tim Curry at the age of 80. The unforgettable Dr. Frank-N-Furter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the original Pennywise has left us after 14 years of sheer struggle against the aftermath of a stroke that paralyzed part of his body and left him in a wheelchair. But if he showed us anything until the very end, it is that attitude is absolutely everything.
He never let his situation take away his desire to live or to be close to his audience. In his memoirs Vagabond, he captured a philosophy that we will carry with us forever: “I’ve experimented with all kinds of attitudes toward my situation, and I always end up leaning toward the positive side of life”. For him, giving up was not an option: “Living in total darkness is boring and annoying. Without mischief, charm, or laughter, you’re not fun—not even for yourself or for those around you”.
A unique actor is leaving us, but above all, a master of resilience who taught us to bring humor and sparkle even to the darkest moments. Safe travels, Tim. 🎭👑
