Yan Diomandé has just played his first World Cup match. Ivory Coast beat Ecuador 1-0 with a goal from Amad Diallo in the 90th minute in Philadelphia. All good, right? Well, it turns out the 19-year-old midfielder arrived in the mixed zone with his patience completely exhausted. ⚡

When a journalist asked him about his performance, Diomandé replied with a laugh: “Did I score today?” And when another kept pressing with more questions, he exploded: “I’ve already said it ten times, it’s not my job to talk!” The kid RB Leipzig paid 20 million euros for, the same one who finished the season with 13 goals and 9 assists, simply wanted nothing to do with the microphone. 😅

But there’s more: Diomandé also revealed that he is going through a “pretty complex personal period” that adds an enormous burden to the demands of a World Cup. At 19 years old, a World Cup debut, a dramatic victory in the 90th minute, and brutal honesty in front of the cameras. Ivory Coast’s next challenge is against Germany on June 20 in Toronto. We’ll have to see whether Diomandé shows up more willing to talk this time. 🔥🇨🇮
