In an interview with Variety, in March 2022, she offered the advice that would haunt her for weeks: “I have the best advice for businesswomen: get your fucking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.” Social media exploded. They reminded her of her nannies, chefs, and drivers. Even the Oscars, that same month in Beverly Hills, took the opportunity to mock the comment during the ceremony.
What few expected was what came next. On March 28, she sat across from Robin Roberts on Good Morning America and said that everything had been taken out of context.
Later, on her reality show The Kardashians, she confessed that she was “mortified”, that the reaction had taken her completely by surprise. Not even her own sister Khloé backed her up: on camera, she told her that no one felt any sympathy for her.
