Bryan Johnson, 48, the entrepreneur obsessed with living forever, has just announced something that sounds straight out of a science fiction movie.
On X he wrote, verbatim: “I just cloned myself… like a newborn”. He gave it a name: Baby Bryan. And right now, he says, it exists inside a Petri dish in some laboratory.
The plan is not cute; it is clinical. Johnson wants that cellular version of himself to become his personal blood donor.
Then would come experimental therapies. And later, in his own words, replacement organs grown from his own cells.
Scientists were quick to bring things back down to earth: it is not real human cloning, but rather a technique called iPSC, which reprograms adult cells to an embryonic-like state, something that earned Japanese scientist Shinya Yamanaka the Nobel Prize in 2012.
The truth is that Johnson made this announcement weeks after revealing that he suffers from an incurable autoimmune disease.
