Cristiano Ronaldo starred in a striking moment ahead of the Portugal vs. Spain clash in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup by revealing a curious anecdote related to Argentines.
The Portuguese captain said that, during a flight to Dallas, he recognized an Argentine flight attendant even before she spoke to him. “I knew she was Argentine by the way she looked at me”, he said with a laugh, explaining that the woman’s expression immediately made him think of the football rivalry between the two countries.
The forward said that he told the flight attendant he was convinced she was Argentine and, when she asked how he had guessed, he replied: “You looked at me and looked away very quickly. That means you don’t like Cristiano”.
However, he made it clear that it was all a joke and highlighted the affection he feels for Argentina, recalling that his partner, Georgina Rodríguez, was born in Buenos Aires. “My wife is Argentine. Obviously I have to have a special affection for Argentines too. So everything is fine, nothing’s wrong”, he concluded.
