A woman was walking through downtown Seattle when, according to the accusation, a stranger began insulting her and throwing trash at her. What happened next left her with a wound that will require surgery.

Diana Gonzalez said that Kamilia Chadli, 36, knocked her down and bit her forehead, tearing off a piece of skin approximately 2,5 centimeters long. The victim said she initially didn’t even realize the bite had broken through her skin.

Gonzalez described the attack as racist and said the wound was so shocking it looked like something out of a zombie movie. A parking lot attendant intervened and helped chase the suspect, who was later arrested near a bus stop.

Chadli now faces a second-degree assault charge and remains in custody on 150.000 dollars bail. A judge also ordered a mental health evaluation after the defense raised concerns during the hearing.

Gonzalez will need additional medical procedures to treat the injury and says the attack also left her deeply shaken emotionally. “What if next time it’s a child or an older person?”, she asked.

The investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
