When he met Salma Hayek on the set of ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’, his first Hollywood film, the actor ran toward her, tore open his shirt, and showed her the tattoo he had been wearing on his chest since his years in prison: a Mexican woman in a hat who, mysteriously, looked remarkably like the actress standing in front of him.
“I knew you before I knew you”, he told her. Salma later acknowledged that the resemblance was undeniable, although she joked that her tattooed version had a better body.
The curious thing is that Harry “Super Jew” Ross did that tattoo by hand, with a needle and thread, in San Quentin prison, years before Trejo knew he would become an actor or meet the woman he seemed to have predicted in ink. 🎬✨
