Lionel Andrés Messi has already won everything a footballer could dream of: eight Ballon d’Or awards, a World Cup, more than 800 goals. He has nothing left to prove to anyone.

And yet, every time he scores, he does the same thing he did in Rosario when he was an unknown child: he raises his fingers to the sky. In his highest moments, he has been seen on his knees, giving thanks, not showing off. “I knew, I felt that God had something prepared for me”, he confessed about the end of his career as a professional athlete.

If the one who has it all lives giving thanks. Sometimes we wait for the new car or the big achievement to give thanks, and we forget to value health, family, one more day of life. Messi also spoke about his defeats: “With time, you learn… they make you grow”. Perhaps that is the true cup that no one sees.
