It was a normal Fortnite stream. Rubius was commenting on plays, talking with his chat, like any other Sunday. Until someone in the stream started mentioning an air accident in Rio de Janeiro. Two helicopters collided in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood. Six dead.
First came the name Oliver Tree. Rubén Doblas Gundersen—that is his real name—read it in front of thousands of people and something in his face changed. Then Gaspar Prim’s name appeared. Gaspi. The Argentine YouTuber with almost 7.5 million followers whom he considered a real friend, not just someone he knew from the internet. “He’s not some random person to me”, he managed to say in a broken voice. They had shared streams, events, and Gaspi had given him songs for his videos without asking for anything in return. The friendship had started at La Velada del Año 5, in 2025.
The silence that followed lasted only a few seconds. “I don’t like these situations, guys, I’m going to end the stream”, he said. And he disappeared. The clip spread across all platforms that same night. Later he posted a farewell message 😶
