Turkish journalist Burhan Can Terzi reported that Jamal Musiala, 23 and under contract with Bayern Munich until 2030, had finalized his move to Galatasaray.
The Turkish club came out to deny it in official statements and accused him of harming its negotiations. Days later, the Attorney General’s Office summoned him, and he ended up detained in Istanbul.
He was investigated for allegedly publicly disseminating misleading information. He was released, but barred from leaving the country while the case proceeds.
Terzi did not back down: he said his source was Oktay Ercan, the Turkish businessman who owns Westerlo, and that he would put ‘his head on the line’ for what he reported. A transfer rumor, in any other league, would have died in a reply tweet.
